Fire up those ovens, Moms! Dad’s big day is this weekend and if you’re looking for a QUICK & EASY last minute project to do with your little ones, Jill from Jaihart has you covered (chocolate-covered, that is!) I always love to say that everything tastes better on a stick, but come on… IS THAT NOT TRUE!?! A cookie is a cookie… but a cookie on a stick is heaven!! Dad will love munching on these goodies and here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to make these happen!
All you need for this fun project are lollipop sticks, melting Chocolate, sugar cookie dough and alphabet cookie cutters!
Next, Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out cookie dough and cut out cookies (I merely just smash it down with my hand) TIP-Make sure that the cookie dough has been refrigerated. It is easier to use if it is on the colder side. I then put the cookies in the oven for 8 minutes.
When you take them out after 8 minutes they will have lost their shape and will flatten, but just take your cookie cutter and cut them out again. Stick them back in the oven for 4 minutes (check them at 2 minutes if they are golden brown they are done). They will maintain their shape now and cook a little more. Take them out of the “crust” and off of the cookie sheet. Allow them to cool for 5 minutes or so.
While cookies are cooking for the second time, melt the chocolate according to package directions. Once cookies are cooled and chocolate is melted, dip cookies in chocolate. Allow chocolate to harden. Flip cookies over and put a dab of melted chocolate on the back. Dip lollipop stick in chocolate and place on the dab that is on the back of the cookie. I rested the other end of the lollipop stick on the alphabet cookie cutter just to make the stick level. Allow this to harden and dry.
Flip cookie over and place a little melted chocolate on the front so that the sprinkles will stick. Allow to dry. Enjoy! For presentation, you can place them in a display or you can wrap the cookies with a cellophane bag and ribbon!
